Matthew Modine and Lawrence Bender
Cinema and the environmental issue
moderated by Silvia Bizio
Three-time Golden Globes-nominated actor, director, and screenwriter Matthew Modine and the producer of the Oscar-winning film An Inconvenient Truth Lawrence Bender address in a conversation with Silvia Bizio the issue they hold most dear: the environment and the damage caused by global warming. Modine will present the first eight minutes of the Ripple Effect documentary series he is making, and Bender will talk about his commitment as a filmmaker to the environment.
Followed by the the screening of Ripple Effect by Matthew Modine. Ripple Effect is a short film for a proposed documentary series that follows accomplished actor and conservationist Matthew Modine on a quest to find what Jacques Cousteau called “wavemakers”: extraordinary people making bold attempts to save the planet before it’s too late. Striking a balance between activism and adventure, Matthew and the heroes he visits open our eyes to the wonders of the ocean, the bounty of the land, and all that stands in the way of a prosperous world. Ultimately, these stories are an emotional showcase of human potential and hope, inspiring each of us to participate in the preservation of our Earth.
