Luisa Rizzo will talk about FPV drones and the various categories to which they belong, going into the specifics of their use in cinematography.

Luisa Rizzo introduces herself:

I was born in Lecce (Italy) on August 9, 2002. I live in San Pietro in Lama, bear Lecce. I finished high school in 2021, specializing in modern languages. I started university and I study Arts, Music and Cinematography. In 2015 I started flying a drone thanks to my father, who has always loved model aircrafts. He made me try one for therapeutic purposes, because I’m affected by Spinal Muscular Atrophy of type 2. I’m in love with drones since then. I’m confined to a wheelchair and for this reason flying a drone is very important to me, because it’s the only way for me to move and run at high speed. A couple of months later I started flying in FPV. In August 2017 I participated to my first race as “LeoOnFire” (my nickname) taking 12th place. The emotions and the adrenallne I felt made me want to fly even more and continue practicing this sport. I’ve always loved sports in general, especially sports that involve speed.  One of my passions is MotoGP, which I’ve been following for about 9 years, and I’ve always been a fan of Valentino Rossi. I got the FAl license in 2018, so I’ve been taking part in the FAI Italian Championship races since then and I had the chance to participate to the FAI World Drone Racing Championship in Shenzhen, China, the same year. In June 2018 I joined the Redbee Action Pilots team, based in Germany, in which I grew up as a pilot until 2021. At the end of 2018 I’ve had the opportunity to set a Guinness World Record for passing through the most gates possible in one minute. I won the FAI Italian Championship four consecutive times (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022). I also managed to be the DRF Italian Cup champion for the second consecutive year (2020 and 2021). Since 2021 I’ve been participating to the Drone Champions League with my current team XBlades Racing, taking 2nd place in the Women’s Cup. At the beginning of 2021 I was nominated “Alfiere della Repubblica” for 2020, a very important title and honour in Italy, and I participated to the awards ceremony in December. In March 2022 I won the Women’s World Drone Cup in Gaziantep, Turkey. In July 2022 I attended The World Games in Alabama, USA, with the 32 best drone pilots in the world. In January 2023 I shot some FPV drone scenes in the American film Paradox Effect, with Harvey Keitel. It was my first film, I hope the first of many.
